When timber becomes damp it is possible for damage to be caused by wood decaying fungus and wood boring insects.
Wood decaying fungus can cause large amounts of structural damage when left untreated, causing problems such bouncy floors and weakened lintels. Most fungi are limited in growth to where moisture is present, however dry rot (Serpula Lachrymens) can transport moisture, and thrive far from the source of moisture. At Damp Tech we have extensive experience and knowledge when identifying types of fungus which ensures the correct diagnosis and treatment is completed.
Wood boring insects, commonly known as woodworm can also cause damage to timbers within our properties. Some species do not require treatment, and others require treatment spanning the course of several months. At Damp Tech we are experts at identifying the specific insect upon inspection, so a treatment plan can be completed, if required.
